Did you know that Siamese cats were thought to be used as palace guards once upon a time? This must be a myth, but a fascinating one. I’ve never known a cat brave enough to guard anything except themselves.

But it’s true they are smart and fun to watch, as well as being overtly affectionate. Probably the one drawback of this breed is their yowling voice. Unmistakable, but annoying to some people.

This breed is sort of the “grandmother” of so many of the more modern breeds, like the Havana Brown, Himalayan, Tonkinese and more. To me they have a beautiful and sinuous body type, unlike any other cat. They also come in a variety of markings, which makes them all the more interesting as an aesthetic companion.
