I’m amazed by the wealth of data available about domestic animal history. The simple truth is that dogs and cats have been a part of human being’s lives since prehistoric times .

That’s probably why even a new baby is fascinated by the family dog or cat. The reaction isn’t normally fear and a desire to draw back from the animal but an intense reaching out for it. In fact, it’s often the animal that has to be protected from the baby!

Could it be the little child just has an instinctive draw towards something familiar as a playmate from generations of companionship? I wouldn’t be surprised.
