Not too long ago I met a lady who had had several pet skunks at one time or another. She said the skunk was so gentle- one of the best pets she’d ever owned. She even slept with it!
The scent glands can be removed by a veterinarian and they should also be spayed or neutered. According to the information I have, they have very little odor once they’ve been de-scented. And they often like water and can be bathed!
Baby skunks are called “kittens” and are born during one month in the spring. Skunks are also available in different color variations, which really surprised me. There are, of course breeders of skunks. One should NOT try to raise a wild skunk, but should obtain one from a reputable breeder.
The other hitch is that skunks as pets are illegal in some states, so you really have to know the laws of the land where you live.
Well, when you think about it dogs and cats weren’t always domesticated either. Perhaps thousands of years from now skunk pets will be just as popular!
